Elmcrest Baptist Church

Our Mission

Our purpose as the gathered people of God at Elmcrest Baptist Church is to:

Glorify God Supremely; Love People Unconditionally; Keep Christ Central in all We Do.

Our mission will be accomplished by providing regular opportunities for evangelism, biblical instruction, fellowship, corporate worship, corporate prayer, personal development and equipping for ministry and the proper functioning of the Body toward itself.

Essentially, we are disciples making disciples as Jesus commanded in Matthew 28:19–20:

19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

This mission also includes opportunities for involvement in service to others, outreach to the unchurched and involvement in world missions.

We follow what Jesus commanded in Acts 1:8:

8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Our mission will be carried out through these ministries:

  1. Evangelism:  The proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to individuals, our local community, and the world at large, through word and deed, with the desired result that unbelievers will come to saving faith in Jesus Christ.

  2. Discipleship:  The communication by Biblical instruction of Biblical truth, both corporately and individually, with the desired result that believers are encouraged, equipped and lives are brought into conformity to that biblical truth.

  3. Fellowship:  The caring, shepherding, relation-developing aspect of ministry with the desired result that believers are encouraged, spiritually nourished, and brought to maturity.

  4. Worship:  The gathered believers responding to God through adoration, praise, thanksgiving, proclamation and giving with the desired result that God is glorified and believers are edified.

  5. Corporate Prayer:  The gathered believers communicating with God through praise, supplication, petition, and confession, with the desired result that our total dependence on His sovereignty is acknowledged.

  6. Ministry:  The personal development of believers for regularly planned training, equipping, and encouragement of all believers to use their spiritual gifts and abilities, with the desired result that the biblically mandated mission of the church be accomplished.
